      PRETON, Sept. 13— Mrs, John William Thompson, well known Preston resident for the past 37 years, died at her residence on North Street, late last night in her 67th year. The former Mary Agnes Wharton. Mrs.Thompson had been ailing for the past six years, but had been critically ill only several hours. She came to Preston from Gray-hound, Kendel, England, 37 years ago. She was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, a member of the Womens Guild of the church, the local I.O.O.F. Chapter and the Quren Rebekah Lodge, Preston. Her husband, one son, Sapper J. W. Thompson of Sydney, NS. and three daughters, Mrs. Harry Ayres, Windsor, Mrs. K. W. Smith, at home and Mrs. F. C. Rutherford, Toronto, survive. Also surviving is a brother, John Wharton, of Shap, England and five grandchildren. The remains are resting at the residence, 646 North Street, from where the funeral will be held Saturday, with service in St. John's Anglican Church at 2.30 p.m. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.
