- Cliffe Hirst
PRESTON, May 25— Cliffe Hirst, Preston resident since 1911, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, at 1: 30 Monday afternoon, at the age of 70 years. Mr. Hirst had been ailing for five months but continued active in his duties until May 2 when he was removed to hospital. During 38 years of residence in the community, he had formed a large circle of friends. Born at Colne Bridge, Yorkshire, England, he came to Canada in 1911, directly to Preston. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church and of the Preston Community Lawn Bowling Club. He was a shipping clerk at Babcock Wilcox, Goldie McCullough, Galt. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Moore; a daughter, Mrs. Allan Pearsell, Preston; a son, William Hirst of Wellington, Ont.; three sisters in England; four grandsons and three great-grandchildren. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home where the funeral will be held Thursday at 2: 30 with service at St. John's Anglican Church. Interment will be in the Prestdn Cemetery.
