    • SCHMUCK, Father Harry J.

Was called home to the Father on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the age of 89. Priest of the Diocese of Hamilton for 58 years. Predeceased by his parents, four brothers and five sisters. He served as an Associate Pastor in parishes in Burlington, Hamilton, Brantford and Guelph. He was Pastor in these parishes: St. Ignatius, Deemerton; Sacred Heart, Mildmay; St. Dominic, Oakville; Blessed Sacrament, St. Teresa, and St. Anthony Daniel in Kitchener and St. Anthony Daniel in Scotland. Forced into retirement for health reasons in 1992, he continued to assist in various parishes in a limited capacity and with several organizations - The Knights of Columbus, Youth for Christ and several Veterans Groups. Father Harry served in W.W. II as an air gunner in the R.C.A.F. He flew with Six Group attached to Bomber Command in England. He also served as a trustee on two School Boards. His great love was to care for God's People in whatever capacity his Bishop asked. One of his touchstones in life was "If men and women only knew what awaits them in eternity, they would do everything in their power to change their lives." Many thanks to the excellent care provided by the EMS and Emergency and ICU staff at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Friends may visit at the BARTHEL FUNERAL HOME , 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519) 653-3251, on Tuesday, February 18th from 5 - 8 p.m. The body will be transferred to St. Patrick's Church, 53 Wellington Street, Cambridge (Galt) on Wednesday, February 19th at 9 a.m. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Crosby and his fellow priests on Wednesday, February 19th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Clement's Cemetery, Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Patrick's Church would be appreciated by his family.
