    • EDWARD BARETTE PASSES SUDDENLY

Heart Attack Fatal To Superintendent Of Water And Light Commission

Suffering a fatal heart attack Friday, Edward J. Barrette, superintendent of the Preston Light and Water Commission, died at his home, yesterday morning, at 10.45 o'clock. He was in his 52nd year. Generally known around Preston as the 24-hour man, Mr. Barrette was a familiar figure in municipal circles and his tragic passing came as a distinct shock to his fellow employees and to citizens. Born in Peterborough, Ont., the late superintendent came to Preston some years ago and has largely been responsible for developing the water and hydro utilities to the high degree of efficiency, they have attained today. In an advisory capacity to the commission on matters pertaining to the local plant the deceaded was invaluable. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Soclety and of St. Clement's church. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. M. Barrette of Peterborough, his wife and four children, Edward, Marie, Gordon and Albert, all at home. The funeral takes place Wednesday morning at nine o'clock from his residence, 561 Guelph street, to St. Clement's church for service, after which interment will be made in the R.C. cemetery. Rev. Fr. P. J. Meyer will officiate.
