- Joseph Prokopowicz
PRESTON - Joseph Prokopowicz, 217 Melrose St., Preston, died today at South Waterloo Hospital, Galt. He was 78. Mr. Prokopowicz was born in Austria and came to Preston in 1913. He retired eight years ago from Kondu Manufacturing. He owned and operated a shoe repair shop on Melrose Street. He was a member of St. Clement's RC Church and a member of the Sacred Heart and Holy Name Society. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Antonia Osmonowiez, in 1959 and also by one son, Michael of St. Clements. Surviving are his wife the former Pauline Knish; four sons, John and Joseph, both of Galt, Frank of Preston and Marron of Guelph, three daughters, Mrs. John (Mary) Stedman of Kitchener, Mrs Henry (Dorothy) Thomas of Blair and Mrs. Everett (Helen) Hamilton of Galt, 29 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. His body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, until Thursday morning, then to St. Clement's RC Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Clement's Cemetery. The parish rosary will be recited at the funeral home, Wednesday at 8 p.m.
