      Fatal Accident Near Hagerstown.

HAGERSTOWN, MD., Aug. 29. Justus Garlock, aged about 70, residing near Antietam paper mills, was, about noon yesterday, struck by the pilot-beam of a locomotive on the Western Maryland road, while walking on the side of the track near East Hagerstown Station. His injuries were such that he died within two hours. He leaves six children, all married. A coroner's jury exculpated the railroad company and employes from all blame.

      ______________

      Fatal Accident

Mr. JUSTICE GARLOCK, an old citizen, aged about 76 years, who lived near Antietam Paper Mill, was struck by the engine of a freight train, at the Leitersburg road crossing of the Western Maryland Railroad, last Saturday, and so severely injured that he lived but a short time after.

A coroners inquest was held, the testimony before which showed that he must have been aware of the approach of the train before, which he passed in spite of the remonstrances of those near by, and that he must have become bewildered. The jury exhonerated the railroad men from blame.

A very large number of sympathizing friends attended the funeral on Tuesday last.
