- Hagerstown, Md. Henry Garlock, one of the oldest brick masons in the county, died yesterday at his home from apoplexy, aged 71 years. He was native of Germany and came to this county when [] years old. He served in the Civil War, had been active Democrat and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a widower and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B. B. Bender and Mrs. Freeland Hoffmaster, and three sons, Harry Garlock, Hagerstown; W. S. Garlock, Bissell, and Robert Garlock, Paterson, N. J.

HENRY GARLOCK, one of the oldest brick masons in Washington County and a well known and esteemed citizen, died suddenly at 11:15 o'clock Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B.B. Bender, 140 East Franklin Street, from apoplexy, aged 71 years. Mr. Garlock, during the early part of the week, had an attack, but soon recovered and was able to be at work. This morning shortly before 11 o'clock he was seized with another attack and died soon afterwards without regaining consciousness.
He was a native of Germany, but came to this country when only six years old. In early life he learned the bricklaying trade, which he followed up to the time of his death. He worked on many of the large buildings in town.
Mr. Garlock services in the Civil War. He was an active Democrat, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Antietam Tribe of Red Men and the Bricklayers' Union.
His wife died several years ago. Surviving are these children: Mrs. B.B. Bender, Mrs. Freeland Hoffmaster, Harry, Hagerstown; William S. (Meiksell/Mikesell), Bissell; Robert, Patterson, NJ.
