      Melvin J. Murphy, 58, of 120 Brentwood Ave. died today following a heart attack at his home.

      He died only six days after his brother Clarence, 56, of Preston, who also died of a heart attack.

      Born in Brantford, Mr. Murphy lived for 25 years in Preston, where he was president of the Preston Foundry and Canadian Magnesium Co. When he moved to Kitchener 11 years ago he became associated with M. Brown and Sons Steel company and during the past 16 years had worked for the A. J. Braun Manufacturing Co.

      He was a past president of the Ontario Purchasing Agents Association and a member of the group's executive council for several years. He was a member of St. Anne's RC Church and the Knights of Columbus.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Frank, whom he married in 1936; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Murphy of Kitchener; one son Frank, at home; two daughters, Linda at home and Mrs. Eugene (Mary Patricia) McCarthy of Guelph; three brothers, Clifford of Buffalo, Rev. Bernard of Kitchener and William of Preston; two sisters, Eileen of Kitchener and Mrs. William (Rita) O'Neill of Oshawa and three grandchildren.

      Besides his brother Clarence he was predeceased by another brother Norman in 1956.

      The body will be at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday when removal will be made to St. Anne's Church for a requiem high mass at 10 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Preston.
