- JAMES EDWARD NOLAN
PRESTON, Feb. 6 - Associated with the shoe industry all his life, James Edward Nolan, 1106 Duke street, died yesterday at the Private Patients Pavilion in Toronto. Mr. Nolan was born in Milford, Conn. and came to Canada from Rochester 26 years ago. He worked in Montreal and Brampton prior to coming to Preston in 1930. In Montreal he was superintendent of the Smardon Shoe Company. Canadian Footwear, McFarlane Shoe Company, Perisian Shoe Company and Cumming Footwear. At Brampton he was superintendent of the Hewitson Shoe Company. For the past nine years in Preston he was superintendent of the Savage Shoe Company. Mr. Nolan attended St. Clements R.C. church and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. In addition he was superintendent of the Foremen's Association. Surviving are his wife, formerly Katherine Dooley, two daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Katherine Adele, both at home, two brothers, Patrick of Bridgeport, Conn., and Daniel Thomas of Hartford, Conn., three sisters, Mrs. William Burns of Shelton, Conn. and Misses Anne and Ellen Nolan of Milford, Conn.
