- DEEP, Marilyn Ann (Susie) - July 20, 1944 - August 26, 2006. As the song lyrics begin, "If you knew Susie like I knew Susie", Id' have to add.... "how fortunate you were."For the last nine years, Susie's life was being taken away slowly by Alzheimer's disease. Cherished wife of Alex for 37 wonderful years. She will be sadly missed by her sons, Kal Deep and his wife Yolanda, Kyle Deep and his wife Kristy and our youngest son, Kam and his friend Caitlin. Knowing her loving strengths and talented skills as a mother, her grandchildren, Kieran, Kassia, Ethan and Gavin will not really know the extent of their loss, as she would have been the perfect grandmother, supporting their development as she had done with her three sons. Her favourite times were at her dad's cottage at Red Bay watching her sons learn their "fishing skills" from "gramps". Her grandchildren will not benefit from those pleasurable times as they have been taken away from them.Susie grew up in Elmira, the daughter of Mervin Duke, former principal of Elmira High School and a present appointee to the Waterloo County Hall of Fame, who also succumbed to this disease. She is also predeceased by her brother, Donald Duke. Before marriage to Alex, Susie had a teaching career at Sunnyside Public School and after her children "left the nest", successfully taught at the adult ESL program at First United in Waterloo. There will be no public service after cremation, just a service with her most immediate family who loved her deeply and did not abandon her during this "dreaded disease".To honour Susie's memory, you may make a donation in her name to the Sunnyside Home Foundation and may be made by calling the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, (519-742-4481). Online condolences may be sent to the family through www.schreitersandrockfuneralhome.com. A special thank you to the staff of Sunnyside for their excellent care they were able to offer when it became too difficult to support Susie at home. Also to all the Red Cross staff through CCAC that cared for her when she was at home.I miss you Susie and look forward to when we will be together again...."there's none as classy as this fair lassie, oh, oh....oh what a gal!" All our love, Alex, your sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
