  Charles B. Clement EDMONTON, A memorial service for Charles B. Clement of Edmonton. Alta., formerly of the Twin Cities, was held today at Christ (Anglican) Church, Edmonton. Mr. Clement, 91, died Dec. 24. Born in Kitchener, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Clement. He was the oldest pensioner of the Mutual Life Assurance Co. of Canada, having started with the company, in 1896. In 1917, he left the firm's head office in Waterloo, to become loan manager in the Winnipeg branch. Subsequently, he served as loan manager in the company's Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto branches, before retiring in December, 1944. His wife, the former Gertrude Unger, one sister and two brothers, predeceased him. Surviving are one son, Mr. Justice, Carl W. Clement of Edmonton, one brother, W. P. Clement of Kitchener; one sister, Florence of Waterloo: two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Clement of Edmonton died Thursday after a lifetime of work in the investment field. Services were to be held to day for Charles Bowlby Clement, 91, of 10425 126th St. Mr. Clement lived to see his son sworn in as justice of the Supreme Court, appeals division, in February this year. He was investment manager for Mutual Life Insurance Company of Canada until his retirement in 1944. Born in Kitchener, Ont., in 1879, he was a cousin of A. Y. Jackson, one of the members of the Group of Seven artists. He married the former Gertrude Unger of Waterloo in 1905. In 1912 he moved to Winnipeg and worked with Mutual Life when he moved to Edmonton in 1925. At various times he also worked and lived in Vancouver and Toronto before retiring 1944 and returning to Edmonton 12 years ago. His interests lay mainly opera and painting. He had collected several of the works of A. Y. Jackson and promoted investments for the Mutual Lite Company in several cities across Canada. He is survived by his son, two grandchildren, five great grand-children: one brother, William P. Clement of Waterloo and sister. Miss Florence Clemen also of Waterloo. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Christ Anglican Church, 12118 102ml Avenue. Rev.
