- Gunden, John, son of the late John and Mary (Swartzentruber) Gunden, was born near McPherson, Kans., Dec. 16, 1889; died as a result of an accident [a crushed chest and suffocation] on his farm near Bay Port, Mich., Oct. 22, 1959; aged 69 y. 10 m. 6 d.
He was married on Sept. 24, 1914, to Rachel Albrecht, who survives. Also surviving are 7 children Iva (Lawrence) Swartzendruber, Clara (Mark) Salter, Lala (John) King, Glen, Olin, and John Dale, all of Bay Port; and Delmar, of Sebewaing, Mich., one foster son Michael Sape, Linwood, Mich., 26 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 5 foster grandchildren, 5 sisters (Lydia (Sol.) Mayer, Sarasota, Fla.; Agnes (Jess) Byler; Mrs. Fannie Yoder, Laura, all of Pigeon, and Mary (Mose) Albrecht, Bay Port, and 3 brothers Chris, Goshen, Ind., Joseph, Sarasota, Fla., and William, Elkhart, Ind.
He was a member of the Pigeon River C. M. Church, where funeral services were held on Oct. 25, in charge of Emmanuel Swartzentruber and Willard Mayer.
