  VonGUNTEN - At Hamilton on Thursday, January 25, 1940, Matilda Margaret Fricker, widow of John A. VonGunten, who resided with her son-in-law, Frank S. Peace, 120 Eastbourne avenue, aged 85 years. The remains are at the funeral home of J. H. Robinson & Co., limited. Service in the chapel on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Interment in Mount View cemetery, Galt. Hamilton Chapter No. 93, O.E.S., will hold a service in the chapel this (Friday) at 8 p.m. The Hamilton Spectator, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Fri, Jan 26, 1940 Page 18 _____________ Mrs. John A. VonGunten A well-known and highly esteemed resident passed away on Thursday at the Hamilton General Hospital, in the person of Mrs. Matilda Margaret Fricker VonGunten, widow of John A. VonGunten, who resided with her son-in-law, Frank S. Peace, at 120 Eastbourne avenue. Her age was 85 years. Mrs. VonGunten had been in failing health for some time. She was born in Preston, Ont., but had been a resident of this city about forty years.She belonged to St. Giles United church, and in her younger days an active member and regular attendant. Mrs. VonGunten was a member of W.M.S. and the oldest member of Hamilton chapter, No. 93, O.E.S., members of which will hold a service in the chapel at 8 o'clock this Friday evening. Surviving are two sons, Fred, Compton, Calif.; Alfred E., of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank S. Peace, with whom she made her h home, and five grandchildren. The remains are at the funeral home of J. H. Robinson and company, limited. Service in the chapel on Saturday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock; interment in Galt cemetery.
