• Notes

  Mr. Simon Strome was born in Pilkington Township. He came to Elmira in 1896 and worked at the tailoring trade here five years. Then he commenced business at Salem, where he remained two years. He is now partner in the firm of Hehn & Strome. Enterprising Elmira Souvenir, An historical, descriptive, and illustrated Book of the Village of Elmira, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, published by George Klinck, 1903. Note: Dunke's Block was situated on the south east corner of Arthur and Church Streets. It had been two floors as the Steddick House. In the late 1940s the building was destroyed by fire Marion Roes 2010
