  Elias Witmer, "was married to Elizabeth Miller. They were the owners of a beautiful farm near Hespeler where they resided many years. To them were born five children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. ____________________ The Hespeler correspondent of the Galt Reporter says: Mr. and Mrs. Elias Witmer on Saturday celebrated what few are spared to celebrate - the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding day, which occurred on Jul 27th, 1841. The ceremony took place two miles above Preston on the farm which is now occupied by John D Newstead and was performed by Bishop Benjamin Eby, who in the days of long ago, told the "old, old story", in the Mennonite church at Berlin.
