  DAVIS, William Richard, journalist, was b. at Barna Kyln, Co. Kildare, Irel., and was ed. in Kilkenny. Coming to Can. in early life, he became a practical printer in the office of the Quebec Mercury. Proceeding west, he established the Mitchell Advocate newspaper, Apl., 1860, which he has ed. for the past 20 yrs, and of which he is now sole proprietor. Mr. D. has served on the High and Public Sch. Bds. of Mitchell, has been chairman of the High Sch. Bd., has served 24 yrs. in the town council, and has held the office of Mayor for a lengthened period. He ran for South Perth in the Ont. Assembly, in the Con. interest, on two occasions, but was defeated. He m. 1862, Miss Tabitha L. Worth.- Mitchell, Ont.
