Born on June 29, 1921, Melba passed away on October 6, 2015 at Columbia Forest in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Gilbert Weinstein (February 1992). Loving mother of Gary (Lore) Weinstein, Brenda (Ian McCuaig) Lavigne and Terrence (Carolyn) Weinstein. Proud "GG" of Kim (Tim) Gowland, Jeremy (Dee) Weinstein, Jason (Candice) Lavigne, Derek (Carry) Lavigne, Shawn (Crystal) Lavigne, Joshua Weinstein (deceased) and Melanie Weinstein, and 7 great grandchildren Ashley, Jessica, Zack, Emma, Abby, Marcus and Kaitlyn. Sister to Melvin Helm and Elaine Forgett. Predeceased by her parents Alexander Helm and Clara (nee Hinsperger) and brothers Lavern, Gerald, Lloyd, Cletus, Don and sister Marie Helm (in infancy). Melba was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. She was a member of St. Teresa's Church and the associate Catholic Women's League for 33 years. Many people were benefactors of her generosity such as Project Linus for whom she sewed together baby blankets for the needy. She sponsored third world children along with countless other charitable organizations. Melba's family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 44 Leonard St., on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall.
