- Peter J. Merklinger, 61, of 39 Marshall St., Waterloo, died yesterday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Merklinger was born at Bad Axe, Mich., but had lived most of his life in Waterloo. He was the son of the late John Merklinger and Mrs. Merklinger.
Mr. Merklinger was connected with the Doersam Book Store in Waterloo for more than 45 years, retiring 18 months ago.
Surviving are his mother; his wife, the former Adelta Cook; five brothers, Samuel, Frank and George, all of Tavistock, Frederick of Reed City, Mich., and David of Woodstock; four sisters, Miss Betty Merklinger and Mrs. Clarence (Frances) Need of Tavisock (sic), Mrs. Walter (Mabel) Meisener of Woodstock, and Mrs. Ida Thaler of Painesville, Ohio. He was predeceased by a brother, William.
Rev. H. L. Brox of Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church, Waterloo, will conduct funeral services at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Buriel (sic) will be in Waterloo Mount Hope Cemetery.
