  John Powell - John Powell, 69, of 182 Victoria St. S., died at St. Mary's Hospital Sunday after a brief illness. Mr. Powell, who operated a barber shop at his home address until March 8, was born in the west Ukraine and had lived in Kitchener for 50 years. He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, the Holy name Society and the League of the Sacred Heart. Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Lemanski, whom he married in 1922 in Toronto; a son, Robert, Kitchener; a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Pauline) Nowak, Waterloo, and five grandchildren. The body is at the Gruhn funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 8: 30 pm, Tuesday. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9: 30 am Wednesday and requiem mass conducted at 10 am at St. John's RC Church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
