  Knechtel, John Robert (Jake) - Suddenly, at his Kitchener residence, on Saturday, January 24, 2009, aged 77 years. Jake Knechtel, loving husband of the late Jane Knechtel (nee) Reynolds. Devoted Dad of Steve and Mary Jane, David and Louise, Kathy and Steve (Dickin) and Laurie and George (Gillingham). Cherished Grampa of Amy, Peter, Lindsay, Dale, Sarah, Ali and Laura. Great-grandfather of Danika and Olivia. Jake will be missed by brothers, Gerry and wife Marlene Knechtel of Portland, Oregon and Peter Knechtel of Kitchener. Brother-in-law of Jack and Shirley Reynolds of Guelph, Brian and Bonnie Reynolds of Fergus and Mary Lou and Don Brown of Etobicoke. Jake will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Jake was a long time employee of G&A Masonry retiring as a Superintendent in 1997. For the last twelve years, he cooked up breakfast for the early morning crew at Jimmy's Lunch. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, 51 Benton at Church Street, Kitchener (519-742-4481) today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Shirley Ruller officiating. Reception to follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home. Family interment at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy by the family.
