- Eaton, Edward L. Driver. Son of Enoch Eaton, Hespeler. Enlisted with 55th Battery of Guelph two and a half years ago, was stationed in England for eleven months and went to France with Howitzer Battery. After fighting for a year and a half he died of wounds Sept. 28, 1918 at the age of twenty-nine. He leaves a widow and a child who live in Hespeler. Previous to enlisting he had been with the Canada Machinery Corporation.1a

"Died of Wounds." Whilst on duty at his gun, he was wounded in the chest by an enemy gas shell. He received first aid promptly but died from the effects of his wounds and injuries at No.4.Casualty Clearing Station the same night.
