      PRESTON - After a lengthy illness, William Becking died yesterday in Westminster Hospital, London, in his 60th year. He was taken to the K-W Hospital four days earlier, and removed to Westminster on Saturday. He had served with the 58th Battalion in the First World War and had been in ill health since 1918. He was born in Hanover on July 27, 1894. On his return from the army he lived in Kitchener until moving to Preston in 1933, in October, 1920, he married Gwendoline Jones, and surviving besides his wife are two children, Mrs. George (Olive) Claydon, RR 1, Preston and Clifford of Timmins; six grandchildren; a brother Harry, Kitchener and two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Haus, Waterloo. and Miss Minnie Becking, Kitchener. Mr. Becking was an adherent of the Baptist church. Rev. H. J. Herlihey of St. Paul's United Church will conduct the funeral serivce at the Stager-Pass chapel on Wednesday at 2: 30. Interment will be in Parklawn Cemetery.
