  ZETTEL, Agnes Marie (nee McGrath) Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, April 23, 1988, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Agnes Marie McGrath, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Hubert Zettel; loving mother of John and his wife Carol of Waterloo, Patrick of Waterloo, Jim and his wife Patricia of Hanover and Mary of Markham. Lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, John, Kaely, Benjamin, James, Michael and Jessica. Also sadly missed by her sisters, Mildred (Mrs. Hubert Miller) of Waterloo and Gertrude (Mrs. Charles Malone) of Windsor. Predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Robert and Francis and her sister, Catherine. Born in St. Columban, Ont., in 1912, Mrs. Zettel was the youngest child of the late Patrick McGrath and Mary Devereaux. Following her education at St. Columban school, Dublin high school and Stratford normal school, she began her long teaching career which took her first to schools in Wellesley township from 1931-1941, then to St. Louis school in Waterloo from 1942-1946. Her last teaching assignment was at St. Michael's school, Cambridge (Preston), where she taught grades 4, 5 and 6 from 1957 until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of St. Clement's RC Church, Cambridge. An immensely strong and gentle woman, who nurtured the same qualities in others, she bore the operations and illness of her last months with characteristic courage and good cheer. She liked a good joke, any kind of sport, family gatherings, fine teaching and laughter. Her last thoughts were for her husband and her children and knowing they were all by her side in her last moments, she smiled and passed peacefully into the hands of the Almighty. The family will receive friends at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Monday (today) and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, Cambridge, on Wednesday, April 27, 1988, at 10 a.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery, Cambridge.
