  Arthur W. Eitherington PRESTON, Arthur W. Eltherington, 72, former assessor and tax collector of Preston and for many years an operator of a grocery store here, died yesterday, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Mr. Eltherington was born in Yorkshire, England and came to Canada with his parents when he was two years old. He lived in Ingersoll, Hespeler, Calgary and Galt, before coming here in 1914 to open a grocery store ,which he operated until 1942, when he accepted the position of assessor and tax collector. He also served as alderman on the town council for six years. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church, the Preston Cambridge Lodge IOOF and was an executive member of the South Waterloo Agriciultural Society. Twice married, his first wife, Annie Roos, died in 1919 and his second wife, Agnes Jane Hunter, in 1947. Surviving are two sons, William and Rae of Preston; one daughter, Mrs. David McInnis of London; three brothers, James, of Toronto, Herbert and Ernest of Hespeler and three sisters, Mrs. F. B. Davidson of Preston, Mrs. Edward Last of Brantford and Mrs. Sam Dodds of Toronto. The body is at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, Preston, until 1 p.m., Wednesday, when removal will be made to St. Paul's United Church for services at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. He moved to Hespeler educated at the Maple Grove School. He moved to Preston in 1914 to open a grocery store where he worked until 1942 when became the assessor and tax collector of Preston.
