- Will Bring Preston Reeve's Body Home
PRESTON, Funeral service for Reeve James Sanderson, 57, will be held in Preston Baptist Church. The date has not been set, pending the return of Mr. Sanderson's body from Venice, Italy, where he died suddenly, Saturday, while vacationing. Mr. Sanderson, who lived at 303 King St., was Waterloo County warden in 1960. Rev. W. H. McWhinnie will conduct the service. Other burial arrangements, in charge of the Stager-Barthel Funeral Home, are pending.
ILL FOR MONTHS
Mr. Sanderson is believed to have been stricken by a heart attack. He had been seriously ill several months prior to the trip. A service station proprietor, he had been purchasing agent for a local manufacturer, until he started his own business in 1949. A 12-year veteran of municipal politics, Reeve Sanderson came to Preston, 31 years ago. He was a native of Whitehaven, Cumberland, England. A strong churchman and sports enthusiast, he was a member of the Baraca class, played football and softball and was a past president of the Preston Juvenile Hockey League. Accompanying him on the trip was his brother Charles Sanderson, superintendent of the Ontario Reformatory, Guelph, who was inspecting British and continental reform institutions.
SISTERS IN ENGLAND
In England at the time of his death were three sisters, Mrs. James (Elizabeth) Kelly, Mrs. James (Bessie) Garroway and Mrs. Charles (Nellie) Reay all of Preston, who were visiting relatives. Reeve Sanderson is also survived by his wife, the former Winifred Frid, Preston; one son, Victor, Galt, and two other sisters, Mrs. Basil (Emily) Ramsay and Mrs. William (Maraget) Reed and one other brother, Thomas, all of Preston. A third brother, William Sanderson, Preston and a sister, Edith Sanderson, predeceased him.
