PRESTON, Edward Alfred Gambling, 81, of 212 Laurel St., Preston, died Wednesday, at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Galt. He had been confined to hospital for two weeks. Born in London, England, he came to Preston in 1912. He was an engineer at the local Public Utility Commission, for 32 years and has been retired for the past eight years Mr. Gambling received the first medal given by the PUC for saving a child's life, in Preston. He was a member of the IOOF lodge and Encampment and served in the First World War. Mr. Gambling was an Anglican and a past president of the local Canadian Legion. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elizabeth Angell, in July 1958 and one daughter Elizabeth, in 1930. Surviving are one son, Edward of Preston, three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Louise) Murray of Preston, Mrs. Willard (Dorothy) Rohr of Kitchener and Mrs. Beattie (Ethel) Gibson of Detroit; one brother, James of Preston and one brother and two sisters in England, four grandchildren. The body will he at the Stager-Barthel Funeral Home, where service will he conducted Saturday, at 2 p.m. Burial will he in Preston Park Lawn Cemetery. Rev. R. T. Appleyard, will officiate.
