- RANSCOMBE, Eleanor (Nellie) Rose
Born in Eastham, Essex, England, on July 22, 1908. Nellie came to Canada with her parents, Ada and George Ranscombe (June 1910). She was raised in Preston, the 7th of 9 children. Nellie is survived by her sisters, Gertrude and Hilda. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, George and Edward (Ted), sisters, Bertha Cluthe, Ada Gregor, Emily Lloyd and Annie Ranscombe. Nellie was Goalie of the famous Preston Rivulettes Women's Hockey Team. She also played softball, golf and bowled. Nellie worked at Savage Shoe and Kralinators and was a member of St. John's Ambulance First Aid. Nellie was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THE BARTHEL FUNERAL HOME, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge. At Nellie's request, cremation has taken place.
