  BENDER, Leonard J. At St. Mary's Hospital, on Wednesday, March 16, 1977, after a brief illness, Leonard John Bender of 180 Franklin St. N., age 68 years. Formerly a resident of Toronto, London, Ont., Sarnia and California. Mr. Bender was born in Dashwood, a son of the late, John Bender and the former Maria Battler. A member of The Church of God, Fifth Avenue, Kitchener and formerly operated a Shell service station in Sarnia. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Geiger in 1933 and by a brother, William in 1965. Surviving are his wife, the former Pearl R. Zinn, his daughters, Mrs. Elaine McBride of Zurich, Marilynne (Mrs. Joseph Caswell) of London and Dayie (Mrs. David Youngs) of Toronto; by sisters, Mrs. Clara Cunnington of Centralia and Pearl (Mrs. Lloyd Shantz) of Waterloo and brothers, Gordon Bender of Dashwood and Roy Bender of Toronto; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, afternoon on Friday. Funeral service in the chapel Saturday, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Donald Snell officiating.
