      Passed away. on February 1, 1999, after a lengthy illness, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 85th year. He was born on October 18, 1914, in Preston, Ont., where he was a lifelong resident. He leaves his wife, Pauline and one son, Danny of Cambridge (P). Mr. Bendus was a graduate of Galt Collegiate (1931) and a graduate of Waterloo University - Canadian Industrial Management Association Certificate in 1958 with the highest standing. Mr. Bendus was a foreman at Dominion Woollens and Worsted, at age 17 and later at Newlands Textiles. He was at Butler Metal Products, for 38 years, where he became the key set-up man for Automatic Machines, during the Second World War. Later, he specialized in Quality Control and initiated the Quality Control Department at Plant No. 2, at Butler Metals, which he continued with until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Bendus was also a musician, having been solo Violinist for the Galt Musical Society and for the Galt Collegiate Orchestras. As well, he was the leader of various sized orchestras in the 1930s, including the Bendus Brothers Orchestra. Mr. Bendus also played saxophone with some of the Dance Bands in the Cambridge, K-W area. Mr. Bendus was predeceased by his parents, Harry Bendus and Mary Spirko; by his sisters, Ann Chowhan (Brantford) and Petera Rudnicki (Cambridge) and by his brothers, Albert (Kitchener) and Ralph (Cambridge). He is survived by his brother, Fred and sister, Stella Bast of Cambridge. Mr. Bendus loved nature, had many intellectual interests and enjoyed long walks with his son, Danny. He especially enjoyed conversations, with his many friends and acquaintances, in Cambridge.
