      August 4, 1944-October 9, 1998. It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Ronald Frederick Bast, at University Hospital, in London, Ont., after a gallant fight with heart disease. Beloved soulmate of Patricia; loving father of son, Michael, his fiancee Linda Savidant, daughter Stephanie and their mother, Dianne. Cherished eldest son of Stella and the late Henry Bast. Fondly remembered by brother, Dan and his wife Gay; daughters, Melanie, Leane and Kathy; brother, Jerry and son Rob of Toronto; sister, Jean and husband Herb Kampferseck and their son, Jeff and daughter, Erin of Kitchener. Ron's lifetime of community involvement included treasurer and faithful coach of Cambridge Minor Hockey. Ron was also a National Judge for the Canadian National Appaloosa Association, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126. He was a devoted employee for the City of Cambridge (Arenas and Parks). Avid fan, honest critic and loyal caring friend, who will be sadly missed by all. Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at St. Clement's RC Church. 741 Duke St., Cambridge, at 10 a.m., interment in Parklawn Cemetery.
