    • AMIES, John Kenneth

      July 17, 1927 - May 30, 2015. Passed away peacefully, at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Saturday, May 30, 2015, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Betty) Amies for 50 years. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary, sisters Marion and Isabel, and brother Albert. Loving father of David of Brantford, Cindy Kent of Orillia, and Susan (Terry) Jantzi of Bowmanville. Dear "Grumpy" of Alex, Leanne (Kyle), Jocelyn, and Cameron (Erin). John was employed as an optician with Imperial Optical Canada, for 50 years; 42 years as the Galt branch manager. He was a member of the Galt Jaycees, where he acted as club president in 1961, and became a JCI senator in 1964. He was also a member of the Galt Civic Service Club. For many years he was an avid curler, and a member of the Galt Curling Club. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment to follow.
