    • CABRAL, Joao "John"

Peacefully, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Monday February 28, 2011, at the age of 77. Joao will be forever missed by the love of his life Liduina Cabral, who together shared over 53 years of marriage. Cherished father of Maria Correia (Carlos), Ernie (Louise), Zelia Pacheco (Dwayne), Nellie Cabral-Melo (Antonio) and predeceased by his son, Jose Dinis Cabral (1974). Devoted grandfather of Jason, Melissa, Felicia (Tim), Mark, Ian, Rebecca and Diego, his step-grandchildren, Jessica, Catarina, and Nelson Melo and his first great-granddaughter, Summer Cabral-Wendorf. John will also be sadly missed by his brother Jose Cabral of the U.S.A as well as his nieces, nephews, family, friends and his pet Krina who will miss him dearly. Predeceased by his sisters, Rosa, Adelina, Maria and his brother, Manuel. John was well known for his special plant vegetables, his humorous character and sarcastic wit. He loved telling stories of days gone by; the army, tobacco farm and his struggles back in Portugal. He came to Canada in 1971 to make a better life for his family, they were his ultimate priority. Later in life, his hobbies included his backyard and the grapes he grew in it, his garden greenhouse, pigeons, animals and carpentry, he could always make anything. He struggled in the end with heart and lung issues, but that never effected his humour, he never gave up on life and was a fighter until the very end. He will be forever missed and loved forever by all of his family. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge, where the family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, on Monday, March 7, 2011, at 11a.m. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery.
