WELCH, Douglas Howard

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Howard Welch, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at the age of 73, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born in London, Ontario, Doug was a devoted and loving husband to Martha, for 46 years and a hero and best friend to his children, Susan Jane (Ken) Stahlbaum, and Jamie Welch (Amanda) and grandchildren Amber and Justin Stahlbaum. Predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Herbert Welch. Dear brother of the late Leonard (2008) (Marg), the late Margaret (2010) (Clayton) Taylor, and Bruce (Susan). Also missed by many special nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends through all walks of life. There was nothing more important to Doug than the happiness and well being of his family and friends. He was always there for you, could fix and do anything and bring a smile to everyone's face with his sense of humor and positive outlook on life. He spent his entire life as "The Doctor of Motors" at McKerlie Millen (Car Quest) with 50 years service. Doug was an avid fisherman and loved hockey (GO BRUINS GO). Doug's family will welcome friends at the Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Sunday afternoon, from 1-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday morning, at 11 o'clock.
