"I believe that Wilf Renner was a crew member on a Lancaster plane of which he was a tailgunner. Wilf was the only crew member to survive after their plane was shot down. They dug a grave for him to make the Germans believe that the entire crew had been killed. A young woman helped Wilf by hiding him in the attic of her parent's home until the war was over. Her parents were Nazi sympathizers and would have surely had Wilf arrested. After the war, Wilf went on trips with a group called "Canucks Unlimited" and visited the grave site of his comrades and looked down on his own grave. A portrait of the woman who saved his life, hung in his home"
