- Death of Mr. A. Walper
Passed Away Suddenly To-day
CAME HERE FROM GERMANY OVER, 50 YEARS AGO.
Our readers will regret to learn that Mr. Abel Walper passed away suddenly about ten o'clock this morning, of heart failure. He had been unwell for some years. his failing health being partly the cause of his retirement from hotel business. During the past winter he had been rather healthier than before, but for four weeks past he was not so well. He passed a bad night Tuesday. but no serious results were anticipated and his sudden demise makes the blow all the harder.
The funeral will likely be held on Friday, but the hour has not been decided upon. The deceased was born on May 10, 71 years ago, in Grosherzogthun, Hesse, Darmstadt, Germany, and came to Berlin at the age of fourteen years, along with the late Mr. Boecking.
He was married about 47 years ago and is survived by. a widow and family of six children; C. H. in Detroit; Levi, London; Louis, Drayton; Misses Kate, Mary and Lottie, at home.
The deceased had been a resident of the county fur nearly his whole lifetime, and the Walper block, Berlin, is a monument to his enterprise. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church; a kind father and husband; an honored, useful citizen, who enjoyed the respect of the people generally. The News-Record extends its condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
