- POWER, Isabel (nee Saunders)
Isabel Power was very blessed to pass away at her home on Sunday, January 24, 2010, surrounded by her family. Being the Saint that she was/is, her family, who are overwhelmingly saddened by her passing are comforted in knowing that she now resides in one of "the many rooms" Jesus has prepared for all of us. She leaves behind her children, Michael and his wife Carol of Kingston, Philomena and her husband Gordon McMurran of Cambridge, Wayne and Annette of Cambridge, Brenda Rogers and her husband Keith of Kimberley, Bridget Braun and her husband Ed of Glen Morris and Myles and Suzanne of Kitchener, her adoring grandchildren; Michael, Christine, Kellie, Lynn Marie, Angela, Robbie, Sierra, Bay Lee, Keristen, Matthew, Adam, Billy, Aaron, Ashley and Michele, her great grandchildren; Andrew, Daniel, Cecilia, Cameron, Avery, Issac, Daniel and Mika, Carter, Tyler, Fiona Mary, Jessica, Mateo, Ocean and Isabella. Isabel's character was as solid as the rock she was born on, Bell Island, Newfoundland on July 18, 1923. She impacted the lives of everyone she touched. Her loving and untiring service to St. Gregory's parish earned her a "Women of the Year" award. Thousands enjoyed her culinary gifts, as she worked with Dick Stoyles and The Baker's catering. Isabel has now jubilantly joined those of her loved ones, that have gone before her. Her husband, Matthew of 63 years, her baby son Matthew, her parents Christopher and Alice Saunders, brothers Eric, Walter and Fred, sisters Florie Budgell and Loretta Case. Survived by her sister Mildred Kennedy, NL, Bridget Branch of Halifax and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Mom it's way too early for us to have devised a survival plan for how we will ever get along without you, so please continue to watch over us as you have always done. Many thanks to Dr. Mark Brown for going over and above the call of duty and the caring staff of Para Med. A very special thanks to her Angel Raquel.
