- NICHOLSON, W. John (Jack)
On Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 86th year. Loving husband of Elizabeth, for over 60 years. Dear father of Gayle (David) Hobson and Ron (Kerry), both of Cambridge, Pat of Underwood and Tom (Sue) of Kincardine. Jack will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Sarah, Shannon, Karen, Andrew, Amanda, Chris, Jennifer, Jessica and Derek and by his great-grandchildren, Ashlie, Sabrina, Luke and Zachary. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Catherine (McBurney) Nicholson and by brothers, Murray and Harold. Survived by his brothers, Alan (Helen) Nicholson, Ross (Lillian) Nicholson and sister, Barbara (Gord) Alexander, all of Egmondville. Jack retired after many years with Dover Flour Mills in Cambridge. He was a member of St. Clement's RC Church and the Preston Knights of Columbus, Council 4916 in Cambridge and a dedicated member of the Cardiac Fitnes Association in Breslau. Jack will be fondly remembered for his kind and caring nature, by the many whose lives he touched. A championship hockey player in Seaforth, his passion for the game continued in games played by his sons and grandsons. He had a similar passion later in life for golf. His prowess in the vegetable garden will be sorely missed, as will his booming voice, his infectious laughter and hearty handshake. Family and friends may call at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, on Tuesday (today), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be conducted on Tuesday, at 8: 30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement's RC Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge, on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at 10 a.m. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.
