It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lourenco G. Faria on Saturday, March 29, 2014, peacefully at home in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Maria Amelia (nee Andrade) for 54 years. Dear father of David (Cathy), Leonard and Lena. Loving Avo of Matthew and Laura. Survived by his brothers and sister; Francisco, Manuel, John, Eduino, Rosalina and Miguel. Predeceased by his parents and his siblings; Jose, Antonio, Emilia, Maria (da Rosa) and Maria Emilia (Silveira). Lourenco was born in Faial, Azores and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church and also one of the founding members of the Portugese Club of Cambridge. Lourenco retired as a mechanic from Hostess Frito-Lay in 1996. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street N., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited in the funeral home chapel on Monday evening, at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial, will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Elgin St. S., Cambridge, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery.
