Notes |
- ALEXANDER (ALEX) PHILIP TAIT 1913 - 2010 Passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 with family by his side, in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Beatrice (nee McDonald) for 70 years. Dear father of James (Jim) Tait (Vikki), Diane Tait-Zotter, John Tait (Dawn) and Robert (Bob) Tait. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Jillian Thom (Stephen), Jennifer Tait (Gerry Tremblett), Suzanne Tait (Curtis Davlut), Phil Kubassek, Chris Kubassek (Tracy Chowan), Deborah Reeves (William), and John Tait Jr. Great-grandfather of Matthew, Katherine, Emma and Victoria Thom and Kennadi Tait. Predeceased by his parents James H. Tait and Rosina (Cooper) and sisters Isabella (Tiny) Kowalski and Mary MacDonald and brother-in-law Keith MacDonald. Survived by brother-in-law Stanley (Whitey) Kowalski. Alex was proud of his education at Upper Canada College. It was there that he developed a love of sports, particularly hockey. He joined the family business Tait Plate Glass Co., which allowed him to travel to Europe and the United States to purchase high quality glass. Alex was an avid reader who enjoyed biographies and had a keen interest in politics and world affairs. He especially enjoyed the various international newspapers his family would bring back from their travels. His love of animals was clear in the many dogs he raised over the years. As well the regular "grand-dog" visits at Sunnyside gave him much pleasure. At Alex's request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Pioneer Tower staff for the care, compassion and respect shown to Alex the past few years. As expressions of sympathy, condolences or donations to Sunnyside Home Foundation would be appreciated by the family and may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, www.erbgood.com or . "PEACE BE WITH YOU"
