Passed away, on Friday, May 3, 2002, following a brave battle with cancer. He always had a smile and a joke for everyone that he knew and spent much of his life in leadership with the Boy Scouts of Canada and was a devoted member of various Masonic Lodges and the Shrine Club of Cambridge. He leaves behind his longtime spouse and best friend, Janet Campbell and his daughter, Jennifer Spurgeon and her husband Todd; brother of Mary Bevan and her husband Ted of Mississauga and Bruce and his wife Marg of Fort Erie: uncle of David Bevan of Mississauga and Michael Bevan and his wife Agnieszka of Waterloo. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Gladys Fryett. Donald was a member of Alma Lodge No. 72, Cambridge Chapter No. 32, Guelph Chapter Rose Croix, Royal City Lodge of Perfection, Moore Sovereign Consistory (Hamilton, Ontario) and Cambridge Shrine Club. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends, tonight (Saturday) 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. Interment at Parkiawn Cemetery.
