  MERTZ, Donald John Sr. Peacefully, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the age of 80. Loving and devoted husband of Elaine Marie Mertz (nee Dubeck) for 59 years. Cherished father of Brenda Piatek, Bradley Mertz (Wendy), Michael Mertz (Cory), Donald Mertz Jr. (Tammie), Mark Mertz (Bonnie) and Heidi Moniz (Mike). Special Papa of Julie, Carl, Steven, Robyn, Michael, Sarah, Jonathan, Nicole, Jennifer and Madison. Don will also be sadly missed by his sister, Elizabeth MacDougall and his step-brother Gary Mertz. Don was the owner and operator of Mertz Plumbing, for over 35 years, in the Cambridge and Kitchener area. He was also a supervisor at Fairview Mennonite Home, for over 15 years, before his retirement. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at Parklawn Cemetery.
