- KNEE, Emily Alberta Marden "Berta" G.M.
At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, March 30, 1996, Emily (Pearce) Knee, of Fairview Home, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Charles Knee (1964). Dear mother of Mrs. Gwendolin "Genda" Kenneway and Mrs. Christina Dean, both of Cambridge. Also survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The late Mrs. Knee, was a registered nurse. She worked in hospitals in England, before coming to Canada and worked at the SWMH. During the Second World War, Emily was cited for bravery in the rescue of over 100 patients, from a hospital, as the result of a bombing. For this she was presented with the "George Medal" by His Majesty King George VI, at Buckingham Palace, in November, 1942. She was made an Honorary Member of the Royal Society of St. George.
