- Friends before enlisting in the R.C.A.F. and members of the same bomber crew, both members of prominent families, FO. J. Willard (Billy) Paige, 21, Bridgeport, was reported killed and FO. Walter B. Jardine, 25, Kitchener, missing believed killed following air operations over Germany on May 23. Active service casualties of this district now total 158.

FOUR FLYING BROTHERS
Billy, the second son to meet death in a plane crash in the Paige family, escaped unhurt in 1941 when a K-W Flying Club plane in which he was a passenger crashed into the Shand Dam.
He is the youngest of four flying Paige brothers. PO. Franklin, the second son, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, was killed in action May 28, 1942. PO. Bertram Paige was the first Twin City man to win a decoration in this war. He received the Distinguished Flying Medal for assisting an R.A.F. pilot land his damaged plane in a dense snowstorm.
Robert went overseas originally with a Western Ontario infantry unit, but later transferred to the air force..
