Notes |
- FLAVELLE, Grace Lindsay "Daidy" (nee Alcorn)
It is with profound sadness that the girls announce their Mother's passing in Galt, Ontario, on July 12, 2007. Daidy, was born October 3, 1918, in Toronto. She spent her early years in Toronto and Quebec and attended school in Rothesay, New Brunswick, at Netherwood. During the Second World War, she proudly served in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS). At the end of the war she met and married the love of her life, James Flavelle and moved to Galt, Ontario. Her commitment to family, faith and friends was constantly demonstrated in her devotion to her parents, brother, husband, daughters and grandchildren, to Trinity Anglican Church and her many wonderful friendships, in her community and beyond. Daidy worked tirelessly as a volunteer and eventually as Patient Services Coordinator at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Her strength of character, love of laughter and extraordinary loyalty and integrity found her surrounded by the warmth of those she touched. She will be sorely missed. Predeceased by her husband James, (October 1969); her parents, Doris and Harold Alcorn; her brother, Douglas H. Alcorn and her sons-in-law, Paul D. Schram and Rufus L. Savage. She is survived by her three daughters, Martha Flavelle-Schram, Lindsay (Jamie Richards), Sheila Savage and her grandchildren, Kimberley (Robert Delius) of England and Jay Richards of Toronto. A private family service and interment has taken place at Trinity Anglican Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 2 p.m., in the Trinity Anglican Church, Galt (Cambridge), Ontario.
