      Peacefully, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Friday, Nov. 9, 1990, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Evelyn; father of Douglas and wife Linda of Milton, Brian and wife Glenna of Cambridge and Robin and wife Janet of Woodstock. Dearly remembered by grandchildren, Jeff, Christine, Randy, Duncan, Andrew and Tim. Great-grandfather of Keltie, Adam, Carli and Caitlyn. Mr. Heggie is also survived by sisters, Mary Adamson and Ella Laurence of Cambridge and a brother, David of Mississauga. He was predeceased by a sister, Jessie Ford. Mr. Heggie was born in Dundee, Scotland. He served with Canada's Armed Forces in Europe during the Second World War and was wounded in action; was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a recipient of the Legion Award of Merit. A well known sportsman, Mr. Heggie was an avid curler. He retired as the manager of the Galt Curling Club and was a life member of the club. Mr. Heggie had a caring community conscience. He was one of the founders of the Galt Minor Baseball Association and will be remembered as the starter for the Cambridge school skating races. In 1982, he was recognized as Cambridge's sports contributor of the year and in 1988, he received a Celebration 88 Olympic Award. Since his retirement he was one of the founders of the Cambridge Seniors Woodworking Club and the Tri-County Masters Curling League. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 223 Main St. E., Cambridge, today (Monday), 2-4 and 7.9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Trinity Anglican Church, Cambridge, Tuesday, 3 p.m. Interment Trinity Anglican cemetery.
