Clifford, 84, died peacefully, on Friday, January 3, 2014, at his home in Cambridge. Cliff leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Caroline (Carrie) Coffin. Beloved father of Lew (Sheila) Coffin of Chicago and Linda (Merv Schwantz) of Kitchener, father-in-law of Perry Jutzi and four grandchildren: Sarah and Ryan Jutzi, Justine and Danielle Coffin. Dear brother of Chrissie Allen of Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. Predeceased by sister, Winifred Brown and brother-in-law, Chester Brown of Cambridge, five brothers; Hubert, Elias, Abram, John and Eric and three sisters; Ellen, Myrtle and Margaret. Loving uncle to Brian (Leah) Brown of British Columbia and Bruce (Cathy) Brown of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews. Born in Port aux Basques, on May 13, 1929. Cliff was the son of the late Hannah and Elias Coffin. Cliff's first job was in a fish plant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. At the young age of 15, Cliff joined the merchant marines traveling extensively throughout the world. Cliff was married on February 11, 1955, to the love of his life, Carrie (Allen) and moved to Cambridge (Galt).He worked in the trades as a sheet metal worker. From 1974 to his retirement in 1992, Cliff served as the Business Manager for the International Association of the Sheet Metal and Roofing Workers. Cliff was a true historian and had a particular affinity for Canadian history, politics and the constitution, constantly researching issues and writing editorials to the newspaper. Cliff had many interests, including ball room dancing, fishing and wood-working. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Anglican Church. He had a wonderful circle of friends and until recently met with them regularly, in the hobby shop in his building. Cliff was a devoted grandfather and shared many milestones with his grandchildren, throughout the years. Cliff had an optimistic outlook on life and will be remembered for his down-to-earth sense of humor. Cliff was an avid reader and lover of music often bursting into song. He was a man with a strong work ethic, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Cliff was a family man taking great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. His smile and laugh will live on in the memories of those who knew him well. He will be missed by all. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at T. LITTLE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 223 Main St., Cambridge, Ontario. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the funeral home. A reception at the funeral home will immediately follow the service. A private interment at Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, will follow the reception.
