Notes |
- Donald Romaine Taylor
The family of Donald Romaine Taylor, sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, May 09, 2007, Saint Luke's Place in Cambridge. He was 86. He is now together with the love of his life, Joan, who predeceased him on January 31, 2005. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Stephen and daughter-in-law Sandra; his grandchildren, Christopher (wife Brenda), Jennifer and Heather (partner Damian), his great grandchildren; Emily, Amy, Scott, Jasmine, Mellissa, Alexandra, Mackenzie and Desmond. He has one brother, John Taylor, living in Florida. He was predeceased by a great-grand-son, Adam. Don and Joan met in England during the Second World War and were married in Bristol, England. Don was born in Hamilton, but came to Cambridge shortly after the war, with his family. His father, Romaine Leander Taylor, opened a small print shop, The Highland Press, and eventually Don went to work with him. After his father died, Don took over the business, moving the shop from Wellington St., to Petty Place. When Don retired, his son, Stephen assumed ownership, changing the name to Highland Print-Craft Limited and moving it to a bigger facility, on Raglin Place. Don's grandson, Christopher, now handles the day-to-day running of the business and his granddaughter, Heather, works there as well. Donald was a talented football and baseball player in his youth and an excellent bowler, but his passions were golf and fishing. He was a member of the Civic Service Club of Galt, the Probus Club, the Royal Canadian Legion and Trinity Anglican Church. Donald will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul by the staff at Saint Luke's Place and we want them to know how much we appreciate and thank them, for their care and dedication during his stay with them. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home Cremation Centre, 223 Main St. E., Cambridge, on Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Private family services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, on Tuesday. Interment Trinity Anglican cemetery.
