  Passed Away - In Guelph, about mid-night on Monday last, there passed away Mrs. James Geddes, relict of the late Jas. Geddes, auctioneer, of Galt. A resident of Galt for many years, and one whom to know was to love, the deceased lady had many warm friends in this town and neighborhood who will learn with regret of her death. Kindly memories of the good old lady would lead us to say more; but n the fullness of time she has been called home, and, we feel that the record of a well spent life is a nobler monument than any pen of ours could erect. Mrs. Geddes was in the 79th year of her age, and for the last few years had been quite an invalid. She was the mother of Mr. George Geddes, of Glenmorris, Mr. Wm. A. Geddes, Mrs. Walter Strowgor and Miss Ada Geddes, of Toronto, and Mrs. Wm. Cooper, of Guelph. Her remains were brought to Galt for burial on Wednesday, and in the presence of a few old friends were interred in Trinity Church Cemetery. Galt Reporter Oct 5 1883 pg 1
