    • SAVAGE, Rufus Laurence

Born in Galt, Ontario, on November 9, 1937, passed away at home, on September 12, 2004, quietly, peacefully and held lovingly by his wife, Sheila and with Tigger, curled by his side. Following a year-long battle with cancer, of which he fought with his typical tenacity and strength, he overcame all but his final challenge. Rufus was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel Fielding and Laurence Melville Savage and his beloved sister, Sue Savage Bett. He is survived by his wife, Sheila J. A. Savage (nee Flavelle). In addition, he will be missed by his children, Cynthia, Sally and Laurence and his two grandsons, Ryan and Adam. Rufus was born and raised in Galt, Ontario. His early school years were spent in Galt and then Upper Canada College, Wedd's House from 1945 to 1956. He followed in his father's foot-steps and worked for many years at Savage Shoes. Moreover, Rufus enjoyed a successful career in real estate, in North and West Vancouver. With his early retirement, Rufus and Sheila were able to travel to many parts of the world, where they established many strong, loving and long-lasting friendships. These friends have been a great comfort in the past year and family all the years. The family will receive friends at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge, on Thursday, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004, at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Rd., Cambridge (Galt), Ontario, at 2 p.m. A private family interment, will take place, at Trinity Cemetery, Galt, Ontario.
