Born in Kitchener, Ontario, October, II, 1895 Educated at Suddaby School and Kitchener Collegiate and Technical Institute. He was discharged January 21, 1919 and is now living with his parents at 46 Brubacher St., Kitchener.
Trained at Guelph and Petawawa and went overseas Sept. 1916. Went to France March 20, 1917 Took part in battles of Vimy Ridge, Hill 70. Lens, Passchendaele, Arras and was wounded on the first day of the big push at Amiens. August 8, 1918.

WITMER, Laverne Elton - Beloved husband of Ruth Eby and only son of Aaron Witmer and Lydia Thomas. Passed away suddenly of his home in Winona on Thursday, December 23, 1976 in his 82nd year. Served in the 1914-1918 War enlisting with the 55th Battery in Guelph then transferring to the 20th Battery in France. He was severely wounded at Vimy. He was employed at the Kaufman Rubber Company in Kitchener for some years, then became a fruit grower in Winona for over 50 years, also superintendant of the Growers Cold Storage in Grimsby from 1931 to 1943. Left to mourn his loss are sisters Altie V. Witmer and Florence M. Witmer, both of Grimsby. Resting af the Stonehouse-Whitcomb Funeral Home, 11 Mountain Street. Grimsby for Funeral service on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Interment Fifty Cemetery, Winona. Flowers gratefully declined.
